The Boat Club of TexasSeabrook · Clear Lake

A boat club on Clear Lake,
without owning the boat

Seabrook Marina, Seabrook · at the gateway to Galveston Bay

No boat? No problem.

Owning a boat is a lot of work and the costs add up quickly. At The Boat Club of Texas you get all the benefits of boating without any of the hassle — the newest fleet on Clear Lake and Galveston Bay, ready when you are.

No trailering

The boat is already in the water. You park, walk down the dock and go.

No cleaning

The dock crew washes her down when you tie up. You never touch a hose.

No maintenance

Engines, service, insurance, storage and winterizing are all ours, not yours.

Long days, lasting memories

Nestled on the channel between Clear Lake and Galveston Bay, Seabrook Marina is perfectly positioned for year-round boating in one of the country's largest boating hubs. Whether you are planning a fishing trip, cruising past the Kemah Boardwalk, dolphin watching, or heading out for a beautiful day on the water, the marina puts you minutes from all of it.

Members enjoy first-class amenities including The Clubhouse, a scenic waterfront pool, picnic areas with BBQ pits, and the fully stocked Blue Marlin fuel dock with bait, snacks and drinks. Johnson Space Center and the Kemah Boardwalk are close by, and waterfront dining at Pier 6, Top Water Grill, Barge 295 and Schafer's Coastal Bar is reachable by boat.

The fleet

Nine boats — center consoles, pontoons and a bowrider. Members complete a boater safety course before each class before taking one out.

How membership works

  1. Call and come look. Walk the dock, see the boats, ask what a normal Saturday looks like.
  2. Get checked out. The club trains you on each class of boat. No prior experience needed.
  3. Book in the app. Same day or a month out, an hour or the whole day.
  4. Show up and go. The boat is fueled, clean and waiting in the slip.

Common questions

Do I need my own boat?

No. That is the whole idea. Members complete a boater safety course, then book any boat in the fleet, show up, and go. No trailering, no cleaning, no maintenance, no winter storage.

Do I need a boating license or experience?

Not to join. The club provides training and checks you out on each class of boat before you take it out on your own. Plenty of members had never driven a boat before joining.

How far ahead do I book?

Members book through the member app, from same-day right through to a month out. If you have got a couple of hours free and a boat is open, you can take it for an hour.

What happens when I get to the dock?

The dock crew has the boat ready, walks the safety checklist with you, and helps you off the slip. When you come back you tap once in the app to let them know you are inbound and someone is there to catch a line.

Where do you go from Seabrook Marina?

Clear Lake, the Kemah Boardwalk, Galveston Bay, and the waterfront restaurants along the channel — Pier 6, Top Water Grill, Barge 295 and Schafer’s Coastal Bar are all reachable by boat.

Is this the same as Carefree Boat Club?

No. The club was formerly a Carefree location and is now independent and locally owned. The owner makes every decision himself, which is why members get a real person on the phone rather than a corporate call center.

Come see the boats

Call the club and ask what is open this week. You will get the owner or the dock, not a call center.
