This policy explains what The Boat Club of Texas collects when you use our website or our iPhone app, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
What we collect
- Who you are — your name, email address, phone number and mailing address, given when you enquire about membership or join the club.
- Membership records — your reservations, boating history, captain certifications and any staff role you hold at the club.
- Dock check-out records — photographs of the boat and your signature on the inspection sheet at the start and end of a reservation.
- Payment information — dues and charges are processed by Stripe. Card numbers are handled by Stripe and are never stored on our systems; we keep only the last four digits and the card brand so you can recognise your own payment method.
- Device information — if you turn on notifications, a device token so we can send them.
What we do not collect
The app does not track your location. It contains no GPS, mapping or navigation features and never requests location access. We do not sell member information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Why we collect it
To run the club: to reserve boats and prevent double-booking, to confirm you are certified for the boat you have booked, to record the condition of a boat before and after use, to bill dues and charges, and to reach you about your reservations.
Who we share it with
Only with the services that make the club work — our payment processor (Stripe), our hosting and database providers, and Apple for delivering notifications. Each receives only what it needs to do its job. We also disclose information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
For as long as you are a member, and afterwards only as long as we need it for tax, accounting and dispute records.
Your choices
- See or correct your information — ask us and we will show you what we hold.
- Delete your account — you can delete your account and its personal information from inside the app at any time, or by calling us. Records we are legally required to retain, such as payment history, are kept as required by law.
- Turn off notifications — in the app, or in your phone's settings.
Children
The club and the app are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under eighteen.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
